Skill Set Requirements:
The Mechanical Engineer
Description of duties:
The Mechanical Engineer will serve as the mechanical expert on an interdisciplinary team packaging new development instrumentation for missile airframes.
They will fit and constrain printed circuit board design early in the layout to maximize the probability of success in dynamic environment qualification.
Design dynamic qualification fixtures and assist qualification planning in cooperation with other disciplines to include electronics design, thermal analysis and dynamics.
They shall be expected to defend qualification levels and fixture design to external organizations to include program management offices and range safety engineering.
Design cable harnessing in cooperation with electrical engineering.
The Mechanical Engineer shall be expected to draft interconnect, design work fixtures and define connector orientation and keying features.
They shall work with lead integrators of missile airframes to plan cable mounting points, bulkhead feed-through and overall cable integration.
Design and constrain instrumentation kits to integrate into missile production lines.
The Mechanical Engineer shall work at the beginning of an effort to gather the needed technical data and prepare for missile integration.
They shall travel to production locations to witness build-up and use of special tooling.
They shall work through the entire design process to ensure successful final integration.
They shall actively engage suppliers and other disciplines to optimize tolerance and work toward more producible designs.
The Mechanical Engineer will also review all program schematics and engineering drawings to verify current versions and accuracy.
They will review and verify all program test procedures, practices and systems to ensure current methods are documented and accurate.
