As a GNC Docking Engineer - Gateway you will:
- Be part of the GN&C system development, simulation and math modeling, and performance analysis for Deep Space Gateway rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking (RPOD) operations.
- Assist in the development, verification and validation of GN&C RPOD algorithms and system architecture for Gateway RPOD operations.
- Provide support of a RPOD man-in-the-loop capability.
- Support the development, verification, and integration of Gateway 6-DOF docking simulations and associated math models.
- Participate in the analysis of Orion RPOD on-orbit operations in an integrated GN&C environment.
- Identify and resolve GN&C performance related issues and assist others in the resolution of issues.
- Formally document the results of all V&V and analysis activities.
- Directly interact with the NASA customer along with various NASA support contractors.
- Perform other job duties as required.
Required Education/Experience/Skills:

- BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and five (5) years of related engineering experience, or
- MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) years of related engineering experience, or
- Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) years of related experience.
- Experience developing GN&C algorithms and analyzing system performance for spacecraft in an integrated GN&C environment.
- Experience developing, verifying, and validating simulation math models.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and various contractor employees.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which this position has been advertised.
Preferences:
- MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GN&C, flight controls, orbital mechanics.
- Familiarity with Rendezvous, Proximity Operations, and Docking flight operations and procedures.
- Direct experience with LINUX, Python, C++.
- Expertise with MATLAB and Simulink tool boxes.
- Experience with the NASA/JSC TRICK simulation architecture and GIT configuration management tool.
