Job Description

As a Computer Network Engineer you will:

  • Interpret network data that captures, such as pcap files.
  • Perform network design.
  • Maintain network management tools.
  • Perform network security.

Qualifications - 
Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level which this position has been advertised.
  • BS degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school and ten (10) years of direct engineering experience, or a 
  • MS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) years of direct engineering experience, or a
  • Ph.D. and four (4) years of direct engineering experience.
  • Avionic systems design and development (electrical or software).
  • Experience/exposure to one or more of the following major spacecraft systems and disciplines:-
    • Propulsion.
    • Thermal.
    • ECLSS.
    • Power.
    • Electrical Systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer networking technology. - IEEE802.3 (Ethernet) standards.
  • Internet Protocol Suite (IPS).
  • Hardware cabling standards.
  • Experience with:-
    • Network design.
    • Network management tools.
    • IT security.
    • Network troubleshooting techniques.
  • Familiar with commercial products available in computer networking technology.
  • Able to interpret network data captures, such as pcap files.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Preferences:

  • Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE) experience is a plus.
  • Experience with spacecraft avionics and circuit design or analysis is a plus.
  • Previous experience in the application of computer network technology in space systems is a plus.

Essential Functions
Work Environment

  • Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

Physical Requirements

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

Equipment and Machines

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

Attendance

  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
