Aerospace Engineer
The Aerospace Engineer shall support the Air Force Seek Eagle Evaluation of Compatibility and Technical Advisory process by contributing to ground and flight test activities at Edwards AFB. In addition to ground and flight test planning, preparation, review, execution, analysis, and post-processing, this position will also participate as a part of the Seek Eagle certification recommendation process across various engineering disciplines such as separations, loads, and stability and control. The ability to broadly apply engineering principles systematically within various environments is essential. Work performed will be in direct support to the Air Force Seek Eagle Program. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills with at least basic understanding of aircraft flight dynamics. This position will require collaborative work with contractor and government personnel in a mixed badge environment to accomplish aircraft/weapons compatibility certifications.
This position operates as part of the Seek Eagle Operating Location (OL) located at Edwards AFB. The OL is a group of Seek Eagle personnel who support the larger Seek Eagle organization located at Eglin AFB, Florida.
Responsibilities:
Local onsite engineering liason and representative for ground and flight tests of value to the AF Seek Eagle Office
Serve as a primary point of communication for Edwards Combined Test Forces to ensure Seek Eagle requirements are well understood and documented
Serve as an AF Seek Eagle onsite engineering representative for ground and flight tests
Support safety reviews and test planning before each test and perform analysis and post-processing after tests as required
Serve as an extension of the Seek Eagle office engineering team at Edwards AFB
Ability to interact with CTFs to understand changing requirements
Primary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
General knowledge and experience in the fields of aerospace engineering including stability and control, loads/structures, dynamics, and aerodynamics.
Experience with Matlab, Python, and C++ is desired.
Experience operating in Linux/Unix environments is desired.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
Education and Experience
Master's degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering is highly desired; however with the right experience a BS in degree would be considered.
3-8 years of aerospace engineering experience is desired.
Security Clearance Requirements
Per contract requirements, must be a US Citizen, as you must be able to obtain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance.
Current clearance is desired.
