THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT KENNEDY SPACE CENTER 

ERC, Inc as part of the TOSC team, provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks support the International Space Station, Exploration Ground Systems, the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and Launch Services programs.

***This position is 2nd shift*** 

Manufacturing Engineer or Technical Planning professional capable of producing an executable plan to work to be executed in the Asset Management shops. 

  • Must be technically proficient and capable of providing technical direction and status as to work order readiness.
  • Interface with flow management, project managers, engineering, shop, area integrators, resource providers, planners, schedulers or other customers to understand need dates, walk down work areas, develop technical plans and respond to changes and issues.
  • Review, plan, estimate and coordinate the efficient execution of manufacturing work requests using Maximo and Solumina {planning & execution software).
  • Generate electronic work orders detailing the activities required to meet project/repair manufacturing requirements and notes per the customer’s sketches, models, drawings and direction.
  • Identify all necessary shop supplies, job materials, hardware and components and the outsourcing of any manufacturing or required special processes.
  • Daily review and adjustment of hardware development activities to meet the dynamic needs and changing priorities of the shop.
  • Effectively communicate with engineers, project/flow managers, work control and management on technical issues and needed resources and provide technical assistance on manufacturing and equipment.
  • Promote and practice safety as a. technical representative of the Launch Equipment Shop, a representative of Asset Management and TOSC, maintaining awareness of and implementing all applicable safety practices and ensure a safe, reliable and well-maintained shop is available for fabrication of both flight and non-flight hardware.
  • Develop and implement solutions to engineering and fabrication problems and verify that optimum quality is achieved on all deliverables.
  • Perform other duties as required

Job Requirements: 

BS degree in Mechanical engineering from an accredited engineering school plus three (3) years of progressive and relevant experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with GSE design, operations and development desired.
  • Maximo & Solumina experience is preferred.
  • With limited guidance, must be capable of utilizing engineering disciplines and analysis to gather data throughout the operation of a system and write technical disposition to restore the system to drawing specifications.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and customer interface skills required
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Must be able to coordinate work between multiple project disciplines.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy
  • Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work independently or with minimal supervision
  • May be required to provide guidance to less experienced engineers.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
  • This position is 2nd shift (3pm start time Monday-Friday) with occasional overtime on weekends.  

Essential Functions

 Physical Requirements

  • Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.
  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

  • Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
  • Position may require daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company
  • Safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
  • Variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance

  • 2nd shift, full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday. Shift starts at 3:00pm.
  • Position may require occasional overtime including weekend work depending on task.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Shift work may be required. 

Other Essential Functions

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
